Gil Shaham and Akira Eguchi have taken Scott’s 2017 sonata “The Singing Turk” to thousands of listeners around the world, with performances from Boston to Palo Alto to Tokyo. This May their recital tour includes performances in Bari, Bologna, and Milan. The title and the music both draw from the book The Singing Turk by historian Larry Wolff, which explores Turkish characters in European operas from Handel to Rossini, both of whom are quoted in this sonata.
